A green haven on the outskirts of Bordeaux
Just 15 minutes from the centre of Bordeaux, Château Bardins is located in the heart of the prestigious AOC classified Pessac-Léognan, wine growing area; an area with a characteristic terroir that includes 16 world-famous grands crus.
The vineyard, on this 14th century estate, has been looked after by the Bernardy de Sigoyer family for 5 generations. At Château Bardins you will find a harmonious blend of both tradition and modernism.
The 24-hectare property includes 9.5 hectares of small vine plots bordered by hedges. We mainly produce red wine but also a small selection of white.
The vineyard at Château Bardins is planted on a gravelly soil, characteristic of the appellation, and situated on a sloping hillside within a large water system formed by the Garonne river and its tributaries. This provides natural drainage into the stream which flows below the vineyard.
At the Château we are committed to an organic and environmentally friendly approach to wine growing. The day-to-day work in the vineyard is guided by a profound respect for nature and the terroir. Great care is taken when cultivating the vines and no chemical substances are used on the soil.
Pessac-Léognan appellation wines are distinctively well-balanced and Château Bardins wines are no exception! They are a blend of traditional Bordeaux grape varieties. Cabernet Sauvignon provides structure and boldness which is softened by the roundness and fruitiness of the Merlot and finished off with just a hint of Cabernet Franc to give a fine bouquet of aromas. This makes for an elegant wine with remarkable ageing potential.
